We've been expecting to see the all-new 2020 Kia Soul make its debut at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, we just haven't received official word from Kia - until now. Along with a teaser image, Kia has confirmed that the 2020 Soul will be revealed at the 2018 LA Auto Show. The teaser doesn't show much, just a side image of the Soul's taillight, which appears to be taller than the outgoing model's. We can also see a plastic styling element on the side profile, which spells out the word "Soul" in engraved letters. Kia has also decided to use a bright green car for the teaser images, hinting that the Soul will be available in a variety of fun colors - which most people will ignore and opt for a boring color like silver.

Kia didn't provide too many other details, other than the availability of several drivetrains, including a turbocharged option and an EV. It's likely that the turbocharged and EV variants will be revealed alongside the standard Soul in LA. Kia says the 2020 Soul EV "will be available in select retailers in select markets with limited availability," so we will have to wait to see which countries end up getting the EV model - we assume the US will be one of them.

Based on recent spy shots, the Soul EV is rumored to use the same drivetrain as the recently revealed Kia e-Niro and Hyundai Kona Electric. This means it could potentially have a driving range of up to 300 miles, which would make it among the best in the segment.

So far, we have only seen heavily camouflaged spy shots of the new Soul, so this new teaser is our best look yet at what the new car will look like. Kia says the 2020 Soul will keep its "bold design, uncompromising utility, and fun-to-drive personality." If you never enjoyed the Soul's boxy style to begin with, this 2020 model likely won't do much to change your opinion. Some people may not like the styling but it's hard to argue with results - Kia has sold over 100,000 units of the Soul every year since 2011 according to Carsalesbase. After its debut in LA, expect the 2020 Soul to go on sale later next year in 2019.
