Kindred Motorworks is set to display models from its new line of retromod 1969 Chevrolet Camaros and Chevrolet 3100 trucks at Barrett-Jackson's Scottsdale. Arizona auction in late January. The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro LT is powered by a modern 6.2-liter supercharged General Motors LT4 V8 making around 650 horsepower, while the 3100 truck is all-electric and makes 294 hp with a 200-mile range.
"Showcasing the Kindred Camaro and 3100 at Barrett-Jackson lets us demonstrate the full breadth of our vehicle lineup to a savvy and rabid audience of consumers and car aficionados," said Kindred Motorworks founder and CEO Rob Howard. "We build vehicles for every taste, whether that's the supercharged V8 muscle of our Camaro LT or the quiet power of our fully electric 3100 pickup."
The beastly Camaro LT puts its power down to its staggered 19-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires through a Tremec T56 Super Magnum transmission and 9-inch Torsen limited-slip differential via a Hurst shifter for some old-school goodness. It also features modern disc brakes, independent rear suspension, and double-adjustable front coilovers.
Inside, there's plenty of leather and Alcantara, Recaro Sportster GT front seats, and a MOMO Mod 8 steering wheel. Modern conveniences include keyless entry, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a backup camera.
The Kindred Chevy 3100 all-electric pickup truck is a whole different ballgame from the Camaro. Kindred sources the 1947-1953 vehicles and kits them out with a 294-horsepower direct drive electric AC motor, powered by a 74 kWh battery and supported by a 6.5 kW onboard charger with Level 1 and Level 2 charging compatibility.
It looks like a complete modernization package with double-wishbone front suspension, four-wheel power disc brakes, rack and pinion power steering, a rotary gear selector, and full LED lighting to go with a keyless entry system, power windows and locks, heated front seats, a complete HVAC system, wireless phone charging dock, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Audio.
The truck also features a marine-grade waterproof wood bed floor that's accessible through a push-button tailgate with hidden links. There's even an electrical outlet in there that uses a 1000-watt, 120v power inverter.
Production on the vehicles won't start until 2024, but Kindred Motorworks is accepting deposits now. The Cameo LT starts at $199,000, while a naturally aspirated LS model starts at $149,000. The Kindred Chevy 3100 starts at $159,000.
