Koenigsegg One:1 to Hit 280 MPH, Carmaker Setting Up US Dealership

Limited edition hypercar is out to smash all the records while a US dealership should be opening this month.

In a recent interview with Bloomberg Businessweek, Koenigsegg's founder, Christian von Koenigsegg, admitted the upcoming One:1 Agera-based supercar –its name derived from the fact it will boast one hp per kilogram – will have a top speed of over 280 mph (450 km/h). If the hypercar's planned specifications come to fruition, the One:1 will be the fastest-accelerating car in the world from zero to 200, 300 and 400 km/h. At around 20 seconds, the 0-400 km/h (250 mph) time will be less than half that of the Bugatti Veyron.

Only six units will be built and all have been presold for an undisclosed fee that will be substantially higher than the $1.6 million Agera R. Yet Koenigsegg expects to make a loss on the project. Perhaps its recently announced Certified Pre-Owned program will help it recoup some of the money spent on building the world's fastest car. The program offers buyers a two-year warranty and free service. It's exclusively for and via official Koenigsegg dealers, one of which is rumored to be opening in New Jersey this month with Emporio Motor Group, according to Luxury4Play. This would make it the first official dealer in the US
