In the build-up to the LA Auto Show, Hyundai teased a video of the all-new second generation Azera and today, having been officially unveiled, its clear the Azera has been given a premium facelift. Adopting the Fluid Sculpture design language that aids its sophisticated exterior with an undulating belt line, large chrome grille and wraparound LED taillights, it also features the new 3.3-liter V6 GDI that manages 293hp and 255lb-ft of torque.

Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control, fuel economy is estimated at 20mpg city and 29mpg highway, while when running in Eco mode the engine and transmission is modified for a 5 percent improvement. Former optional content has become standard Azera equipment, such as the navigation system with rearview camera and Blue Link telematics platform. There's also heated front & rear seats, improved front-seat leg room & headroom, leather interior, 18-inch and optional 19-inch multi-spoke silver alloys, HID Xenon headlights with LED accents, and an optional panoramic sunroof.

Handling has been enhanced with a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension and Hyundai have thrown in a range of advanced safety equipment including a knee airbag and impact-reducing front seat system. The 2012 Hyundai Azera goes on sale in February and we should get an indication of price nearer the time.
