LA Show to See Ford Unveil Global Focus Touring Car Racer

2010 LA Auto Show

Ford announced on the opening day of the 2010 SEMA Show that it intends to unveil the next-generation Global Focus Touring Car at the LA Auto Show in a matter of weeks. This is big news for Ford, considering that the new Focus is the first official global platform from the automaker. After its debut, it will first compete in the 2011 British Touring Car Championship, and there are hints that it will compete at the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring as well.

According to a Ford official, the automaker has been busy working with individual teams to ensure the car meets international regulations. This translates to us most likely seeing some cars compete in the Grand Am and World Challenge series in the near future. Full specs are to be revealed in LA, but Ford mentioned that it will be powered by the same EcoBoost engine found in the Focus ST model.
