LaFerrari FXX to Get F1-Derived V6 Turbo Hybrid

Engine

Ferrari wants this car to blow everything else before it out of the water.

Recent spy shots confirmed that Ferrari was working on a hardcore variant of its LaFerrari hypercar. The ‘XX’ will be the most extreme production-derived car in Ferrari’s history and according to Top Gear will be powered by a F1-derived V6 turbo hybrid powerplant. Due out at the beginning of next year, Ferrari recently admitted it would be hard to squeeze any more power out of the LaFerrari’s 950-hp 6.3-liter V12 hybrid powertrain.

Instead, performance would be enhanced by revising the suspension for the track, improving aerodynamics, tuning the electronic stability and traction systems, and reducing weight. There’s no confirmation the XX will definitely run the V6 turbo, but the fact Ferrari is considering it shows just how focused it is on creating an unworldly track car.
