Lamborghini Aventador Meets its Maker

Nothing is left except for charred and twisted metal.

We've sadly seen far too many supercar crashes in 2013. And just before year’s end, another nasty crash has been added to the list. This Lamborghini Aventador, driven by a young Italian driver named Favio Pierleoni, who professionally races for both Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Ferrari Challenge series, has been completely destroyed. Supposedly, Pierleoni lost control while behind the wheel and ended up crashing into a ditch.

The car quickly caught on fire, but fortunately both Pierleoni and his passenger were dragged to safety by the owner of a local factory who witnessed the crash. Both were taken to the hospital in critical condition, being treated for concussions and burns. The car was completely destroyed. According to some initial reports, Pierleoni complained of odd noises coming from the car before the accident. Just the day prior he posted a picture of the same Aventador on Instagram, claiming that he plans to drive it despite bad weather conditions. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the crash and resulting fire.
