Lamborghini Confirms Gallardo 550-2 Spyder

Report

If early reports are accurate, we could soon be seeing a rear-wheel-drive Gallardo Spyder on the market in the very near future.

Although we're still waiting for official confirmation, Lamborghini has reportedly stated that they will in fact be producing the Gallardo 550-2 Spyder. No details have been revealed yet, but sources have indicated the new model will be "more demanding" and with a "more emotional and gratifying drive." Since it would be based on the coupe version of the rear-wheel-drive supercar, it makes complete sense for the 550-2 Spyder to have this improved driving experience.

The coupe is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 with 550hp and is mated to a traditional six-speed manual. It had a base price $219,800. The 550-2 coupe is also known as the Valentino Balboni edition, named for Lamborghini's long-time and much beloved test driver. For now, we're still waiting official confirmation, details, and photos from the automaker, but it's great to hear that Lamborghini isn't finished with the Gallardo just yet. Photos displayed are of the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder.
