Tragically, the owner of this Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder only got to enjoy their new convertible supercar for 20 minutes before it was reduced to a mangled wreck. After leaving the dealership, the driver took their Huracan Performnate Spyder for a spin on the M1 highway in West Yorkshire, UK.
Their joy was shortlived, however, as West Yorkshire police claim the supercar was forced to stop on the highway due to an unspecified "mechanical failure." With not enough time to react, a van driver slammed into the back of the Huracan Performante Spyder, dismembering the supercar's rear end.
"It's only a car ! But on this occasion a 20 minute old brand new Lamborghini that stopped due to mechanical failure in lane 3 them hit from behind by an innocent motorist #couldhavecried," West Yorkshire Police wrote on Twitter.
From the photos posted on social media by police, the Huracan Performnate Spyder is severely damaged. Sadly, this wrecked supercar won't be easy to salvage as the damage looks terminal.
The right rear fender is smashed in, part of the rear bumper is ripped off, and the impact was so severe that the right rear wheel detached from the supercar. You can also see that the anti rollbars were activated during the crash.
Since the damage has intruded the supercar's engine compartment, this Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder will most likely be totaled. Let's just hope the van driver who smashed into the back of the supercar has insurance.
It isn't known if this Lamborghini Huracan Performante was brand new or a used example. If it was new, the topless supercar would have cost at least $308,859. It isn't known if the owner of the Lamborghini was injured, but the van driver suffered head injuries in the crash. Fortunately, their injuries aren't believed to be serious.
