Thankfully, the occupants weren't seriously hurt. The same can't be said for this decapitated Lamborghini Huracan.
Yet another Lamborghini has sadly met its maker in a brutal crash. But unlike other recent accidents where the damage was at least repairable, this Lamborghini Huracan split in half during the impact before catching on fire. According to local reports, the accident happened in the early hours of the morning in north Miami Beach, but the exact cause of the crash hasn't been confirmed. Miraculously, both occupants survived and were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and are in a stable condition.
The same clearly can't be said for the dismembered Lamborghini Huracan. Footage of courtesy of CBS Miami shows the mangled remains of the Italian exotic after the fiery crash. The front-end of the supercar landed in a nearby parking lot, while the back-end came to a stop in the middle of the road. A Chrysler in the parking lot also suffered burn damage as a result of the fire.
According to CBS Miami, the force of the crash was so severe that it caused a palm tree to topple and land in the middle of the road. Witness Pedro Huamchumo describes hearing a "boom" before seeing the car "on fire and in two pieces" which he recorded on his cellphone. "I saw the guy get out from the car with fire in all this arm and the legs, and he turned on the floor, and he was screaming. The people called the police and the gas station." One of the occupants reportedly tried to flee the scene of the accident before police arrived. Another witness said they saw the Huracan speeding with two other cars and aquaplaned after driving through a puddle, but police have yet to confirm this.
The sight of a decapitated Lamborghini Huracan may look disturbing in the videos and photos, but it's a very deliberate safety feature designed to protect occupants in the event of a serious crash while reducing the force of the impact. In this case, it might just have saved their lives.
