Lambo's wildest Huracan joins the virtual world.
Lamborghini is a manufacturer of exotics unlike any other. Most of its creations, whether they be concepts or not, are spectacular pin-ups of what a car can look like, and are almost cartoonish in their styling. One example is the automaker's Essenza SCV12 and another is the hybrid Sian. These cars would look right at home in a video game, and now one Lamborghini is making that transition to the virtual world. Rocket League, which has previously added a jet-powered Ford F-150 to the game, has now announced that the wild and wacky Lamborghini Huracan STO is joining the fun too.
If you're a player in Rocket League, you'll have a limited time to take advantage of the Lambo's availability in the game, as it will only be making a cameo until April 27. It can be used to compete in the game's Battle of the Bulls in the Championship Series X Lamborghini Open, which the Italian automaker is the official sponsor of. The car comes as part of a charged package that includes the STO in Blue Laufey and Arancio California, as well as other livery and customization options. You also get two sets of tires, an exclusive "Huracan STO Player Banner" and "Antenna" systems from the developer of the game, Psyonix.
President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann says, "The debut of Huracan STO in the world of Rocket League is a further step in the digital strategy of Lamborghini, which entered eSports in 2019 with its own one-make championship. Gaming and simulation are phenomena of particular interest to the automotive industry, important for engaging the new generations and making our cars even more popular with young people."
The Battle of the Bulls will be played as a five-match series from April 23-25, with each winner of a series of one-on-one matches earning a prize of $5,000. Boot up that Xbox then, and maybe win some money.
