Lamborghini Huracan Transformed Into Insane 800-HP Drift Car

You can see it in action this week at the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

We’re used to seeing Formula Drift star Mike Whiddett, better known as ‘Mad Mike’ make sliding around corners in a range of Mazda sports cars at high speed look easy at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. At this year’s show, however, Mad Mike will be taking his drifting skills to the next level in a specially modified Lamborghini Huracan. Mad Mike calls his creation the ‘NIMBUL’ in reference to his 515-hp ‘MADBUL’ Mazda RX-7.

To help the supercar stand out, Mad Mike had the custom Huracan painted in a unique camouflage. It also wears a Liberty Walk widebody kit with the tuner’s signature bolt-on flared arches and rides on aggressive Rotiform wheels. Each wheel also has an AirREX air suspension package that can raise or lower the supercar when required.

Speaking to Top Gear, Mike said that the only rule Lamborghini made during the transformation was that the engine had to remain naturally aspirated. As a result, the 5.2-liter V10 has been given a new ECU, K&N filters and "a big shot of Nitrous,” sending 800 horsepower to the rear wheels. Impressively, the project was completed in just four weeks.

"Bringing the #NIMBUL to life is a dream come true for me,” said Whiddett. "Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to create a drift-ready supercar. It took four weeks to turn the Huracan into the #NIMBUL and I can’t wait to let it loose in front of the crowds at the Festival of Speed. It’s so different to anything else, and the vehicles involved are mind blowing.”

Ahead of the NIMBUL’s debut at Goodwood, Red Bull has released a video showcasing a duel between Mad Mike in the modified Huracan and Eduard Nikolaev in a massive Dakar Rally racing truck. In the comical video, we get to see the pair race for the last available parking slot for a fancy ball at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. There’s lots of fancy driving and drifting on display as you would expect. In one standout moment, the truck even jumps over the Huracan.

Mad Mike will be driving his Huracan drift car up the Goodwood Hillclimb, or you can watch him destroy some tires in the new Festival of Speed Arena.
