Aventador Ultimae

Lamborghini has pulled the wraps off not one, but two one-off V12-powered supercars that officially bid farewell to the naturally aspirated V12 engine. The Lamborghini Autentica and Lamborghini Invencible are one-of-one roadster and coupe models, respectively, that were commissioned by customers through Lamborghini's bespoke vehicles division.

At the heart of each car is a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 producing 769 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque - the same outputs as the Lamborghini Aventador Ultimae. Like the donor car, all-wheel drive and an automated single-clutch gearbox handle power distribution, while four-wheel steering makes these one-offs handle like smaller supercars.

The interesting names were first discovered by CarBuzz last year and are as unique as the cars themselves. While both use the Aventador's carbon fiber monocoque chassis, the styling is completely unique, with Lamborghini Centro Stile handling the designs inspired by some of Lamborghini's best concepts of yesteryear: the Sesto Elemento, Reventon, Veneno, and track-only Essenza SCV12.

The latter machine inspired the hood and front splitters of the new cars, while the prominent rear wing of the Invencible Coupe was inspired by the one found on the Sesto Elemento. Other aerodynamic elements were inspired by the Veneno and Reventon, but one common theme is carried throughout - the hexagon. Indicative of carbon - the sixth element on the periodic table of elements, the design trait is utilized in the unique LED detailing of the head- and taillight clusters, the vents on the engine cover, and the triple exhaust outlets, which are finished with Inconel tips.

The cabins of both cars lean heavily into the carbon fiber theme with carbon fiber found throughout, while a digital instrument cluster features bespoke graphics for each car.

Lamborghini Invencible Coupe

The Invencible coupe is finished in Rosso Efesto paintwork contrasting with exposed carbon fiber elements, which feature red flakes in their clearcoat. The sills and door frames are finished in carbon, while the brake calipers are painted Rosso Mars (red). Center-lock wheels with red detailing complete the look. As is to be expected from a V12 Lamborghini Coupe, scissor doors are the only means of ingress, with neat hexagonal Italian flag tri-color detailing.

This tri-color motif carries into the cabin, where it's found on the steering wheel. With a color combination echoing its exterior, Rosso Alala leather contrasts Nero Cosmus Alcantara upholstery. Embroidered details have been customized in Rosso Alala and Nero Ade, while the Lamborghini logo on the dash is the same Rosso Efesto as the exterior paintwork. This color is also used for the gearshift paddles.

Lamborghini Autentica Roadster

The roofless Autentica roadster uses subtler colors but is no less striking. Its primary bodywork is finished in Grigio Titans (grey) with details in matte black and Giallo Auge (yellow), the latter also found on the brake calipers, front splitter, and rear wing and fins. Behind the cockpit, two nacelles house the integrated rollover hoops.

Inside its cabin, a yellow called Giallo Taurus for the embroidery contrasts against Nero Ade leather, while the seats are finished in two-tone Nero Cosmus and Grigio Octans Alcantara.

"We have created two one-off cars with their own unique character, inspired by track days and the high-octane circuit environment," said Lamborghini's head designer, Mitja Borkert. "They are designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile, exerting maximum creativity on the V12 platform. These one-off designs draw on our unique design DNA while once again elevating our design heritage to a new level."

The Next Chapter

These will be the last two cars from Lamborghini to ever utilize the naturally aspirated V12, with the next chapter being a hybrid super sports car that Lamborghini says is due in just a few weeks.

"The V12 engine is one of the pillars of our history and our marque's success," said Stephan Winkelmann, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO. "As we head towards embracing a new era of hybridization at the heart of our Cor Tauri strategy, this is the Lamborghini way of celebrating the naturally aspirated V12 with two one-off vehicles that perfectly represent our concept of excellence in personalization."

We've already seen the new V12 super sports car via leaked design patents and know what it will sound like in electric-only mode. So all that's left is to find out all the details when the covers come off officially.
