Lamborghini had a magical sales year in 2018 when it sold 5,750 cars, which was an increase of 51 percent compared to 2017. With the Huracan quickly overtaking the Gallardo as Lamborghini's best-selling model of all-time, it's no wonder why the company was having so much sales success. Still, this isn't the real reason why Lamborghini is thriving. Not by a long shot.

The Sant'Agata Bolognese-based automaker has just revealed its sales figures for 2019 and the results are staggering. Lamborghini sold 8,205 units in 2019, an increase of 43 percent compared to its 2018 figures. This is now the ninth year of continuous growth for the company.
Let's just say the Lamborghini Urus SUV has something to do with the success.

In its first full calendar year on sale, the Urus sold 4,962 units in 2019, an increase of 182 percent from the 1,761 units sold in 2018. In other words, the Lamborghini moved more copies of just the Urus in 2019 than it did with its entire portfolio in 2017. The Lamborghini Huracan sold well too, with the model surpassing the 10-year, 14,022-unit production mark set by the Gallardo in just half the time. Lamborghini didn't give exact volumes for the Huracan or Aventador, but the two supercars obviously now make up less than half of the company's yearly sales.

"The year 2019 was the most successful in our history. The team delivered another substantial sales increase, taking us to unprecedented historic highs. In only two years we more than doubled our sales numbers, a success that cannot be overrated. This clearly proves the power of our brand and the quality and sustainability of our product and commercial strategy. Our Super SUV Urus sold almost 5,000 units, a number that comes close to our total sales volume in 2018. With new content and new technologies, our V10 and V12 super sports cars models retained their market success," said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini.

"Simultaneously we further increased our high brand awareness, especially with the younger generations, having multiplied our following on social media channels to more than 40 million. All this is a real team achievement and I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single Lamborghini team member for their inspiration and dedication to our brand, as well as our shareholders and group for their continued support," he added.
