Lancia, in collaboration with Italian design house MomoDesign, has opened the order books for its special edition Delta S, which is being priced at 23,400 Euros in Italy for the entry-level 120-horsepower 1.4-liter Turbo Jet variant. For 2,000 Euros more, a 1.4-liter Turbo Jet LPG engine is available, while a 1.9-liter twin-turbo MultiJet unit, rated at 190 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, is priced at 26,400 Euros. With the twin-turbo unit, the Delta S can sprint from 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 137 mph.
That's not bad for a five-door hatch, but fans of the Italian designer are more interested in the aesthetics of the car than its performance capabilities. Distinguishing itself from standard models, the Delta S by MomoDesign sports body-matching side skirts and front bumper, dark chrome finishes, burnished headlights, and a set of 18-inch alloys with a dark shadow treatment. At the back a new exhaust system gets twin chrome pipes and a gloss black tailgate. The special edition model is available in exclusive shades of metallic Antricit Grey and two-tone Antracite Grey and Eclissi Black.
The subtle styling continues inside where a gloss-black center console is complemented by a leather-trimmed yellow speedometer, and blue stitching on the seats, steering wheel, gear lever gaiter, handbrake and door panels. Standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, cruise control and multifunctional steering wheel. Although the car was initially previewed back in late February (alongside a similar treatment for the smaller Ypsilon), this is the first time we're seeing the specific details.
