Some of us will always prefer our cars to remain completely original and untarnished by the sometimes gaudy modifications from aftermarket tuners. For others with a more open mind, you could end up with something tastefully original such as the Land Rover Defender Yachting Edition by Carlex Design. It was a striking iteration of the new Defender that stopped just short of being vulgar. However, the tuner has just showcased its versatility by coming up with the Land Rover Defender Racing Green Edition, and it's far from subtle. As the name dictates, it's finished in a deep green shade inspired by British Racing Green.

Carlex says that this edition emphasizes the "naughty character" of the Defender and, well, we kind of get what they're on about. Severely protruding arch extensions, plenty of black carbon, a central stripe in porcelain white, and special wheels in black give this off-roader a lot of attitude. Carlex branding has been applied to the spare wheel cover and the hood. Anyone with a penchant for upscale cigar lounges will probably enjoy the richly trimmed cabin, which is finished in a combination of cognac-tinted and deep green leather. The seats have been uniquely shaped, there are numerous carbon elements, and the attention to detail extends to the attractive perforation and seams.

The 'Racing Green Edition' wording has been applied to areas like the seats and the lid for the center console storage area, which doubles as an armrest. A bespoke steering wheel has been reshaped, with a flat bottom section and brown perforated leather trim. Overall, it certainly doesn't look like something you'd find within the Land Rover online configurator, and after all, that's the point of aftermarket tuners. The cost of this Defender makeover is €85,000 (about $101,875), and if you can afford it, why not get a matching McLaren 720S for when you're tackling the track and not the great outdoors?
