The A&E network and Land Rover North America are partnering on a new documentary called "All You Need To Know: Overlanding." The 60-minute doc premieres on Sunday, April 18 at 10 p.m. We're guessing LR loves this project as its cars, particularly the Defender, have been historically known for the practice. Though they haven't been the only ones.

The new Ford Bronco is a perfect candidate, as is a Toyota Tacoma. Hell, we've even seen an overland-converted BMW concept. But overlanding isn't just off roading. Jeep Wranglers do that every weekend. The term describes a self-reliant adventure where the journey is the goal. The lodging is camping, and usually for extended lengths of time. It's more about exploration than conquering obstacles. The critical thing is to find remote locations, interact with cultures other than your own, and find under-documented or under-explored regions.

The TV show will feature the new Land Rover Defender, and will be hosted by outdoor enthusiast Christian Murphy. Murphy will take global overlanding expert Scott Brady on a five-day, off-the-grid trip through the US west.

"Popular interest in overlanding is exploding worldwide and set to become the next really big thing in the outdoor and SUV space," said Christian Murphy, head of Enthusiast brands, A&E Networks. And this can be confirmed with a quick Google Trends search, which shows interest basically quadrupling over the past five years.

"Through this unique partnership with Land Rover, the Defender becomes a character in the adventure - not only enabling the journey but capturing the spirit of outdoor exploration. We've created content that inserts unique expertise into this huge trend, features American landmarks and hopefully spurs audiences to explore the great outdoors," said Murphy.

The show will equip you with…all you need to know, including overlanding background and history, planning, driving techniques, expert advice, tools and resources.

"With more and more people taking four-wheeled adventures, Land Rover and A&E Networks want to shine a spotlight on the world of overlanding," said Stuart Schorr, Vice President of Communications, Jaguar Land Rover North America. "Packing up your vehicle with everything you need and getting out to explore our amazing natural surroundings is truly rewarding. This program should inspire continued growth in this specialized area of adventure."
