Land Rover showed off three of their new hybrid-electric concepts earlier this year at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, and now they are entering the trio in the RAC Future Car Challenge. To prove to the world how effective and efficient their concepts are, the British automaker will enter them in upcoming the 60 mile contest. The Range_e is a plug-in diesel-hybrid based on the Range Rover Sport TDV6.

The production vehicle matches the concepts power level of 245hp from the 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that is coupled with a 69kW electric motor. The big 4x4 uses a 14.2kW/h lithium-ion battery pack that can be charged using a standard household plug. It has a battery range of 20 miles. The Land Rover Range_e will take part in the RAC Future Car Challenge, which takes place in London, England on November 5th. The goal of the challenge is to cross the 60 mile route using the least amount of energy possible between a mandatory total time that falls between 2hr 45min to 3hr 40min.
