It's easy to criticize the trendy four-door coupe concept - until you cast your eye on the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. It's an incredibly pretty car yet now seats as many occupants as an E-Class. A few weeks ago, Mercedes revealed various upgrades for the 2022 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe in the United States, and now it has announced that the upgraded 2021 version is available to order and will reach European showrooms in August. The different model years aren't typos, as different markets do things their own way; essentially, the 2022 AMG GT sold here is the same car as the 2021 AMG GT that will be sold in Europe, with just one or two differences. US pricing is yet to be released but European pricing has now been revealed.
In Europe, the latest AMG GT 43 will cost €96,877, which works out to $114,593. Unlike in North America, Europe gets a base rear-wheel-drive version of the GT 43. Next is the GT 43 4Matic at €100,328 ($118,675) followed by the more powerful AMG GT 53 4Matic at €114,489 ($135,425). However, US equivalent prices are unlikely to be as high as this because the 2021 AMG GT 43 4-Door Coupe sold here begins at $89,900.
Both European and North American versions of the latest AMG GT can be finished in stunning Rubellite Red paint, described as a dark gemstone shade, as part of a new package upgrade. This also adds additional high-gloss chrome and special forged 21-inch wheels to the exterior.
Unique to the US market is the availability of a five-seat option that replaces the two individual rear seats with a bench seat for three. In both regions, Mercedes has enhanced the customization choices with more selections of various wheels, exterior colors, and upholsteries than before.
With six-cylinder variants arriving in European showrooms next month, it surely can't be too long before the new AMG GT makes its way to local dealerships. Of course, if the AMG GT isn't the swoopy four-door Mercedes you want for some reason, the latest CLS-Class is another beautiful sedan from the German marque that's well worth a look.
