Avenir is no longer just the name of Buick's range-topping trim – it's now a premium sub-brand to distinguish Buick's high-end luxury cars and change people's perception of the brand. First came the Enclave Avenir, and now it's the LaCrosse sedan's turn to receive the luxurious Avenir treatment. According to Buick, nine out of ten buyers opt for one of the two top trims out of the four available, so it was only a matter of time before the automaker introduced a swankier model to capitalize on the demand.

Ahead of its debut at the LA Auto Show later this month, Buick has revealed what we can expect from the new high-end version of its flagship sedan. "Customers are signaling they want more from Buick," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC. "With even more content and an elegant look, Avenir adds a unique name and appearance for those who want the best of our attainable luxury." Like the Enclave Avenir, the LaCrosse Avenir's styling takes its cues from Buick's stunning Avenir concept cars, featuring a fancy 3D mesh upper and lower grille paired with chrome wings. Avenir badging on the front doors further distinguishes the model.

It rides on exclusive 19-inch Pearl Nickel wheels or optional 20-inch Midnight Silver wheels that "create a commanding road presence." "Exterior styling is very important to LaCrosse buyers, and its sculpted beauty withstands passing trends," said Bob Boniface, global director of Buick Exterior Design. "For Avenir, we focused on maintaining the timelessness of the LaCrosse, while giving these customers subtle and tasteful details that elevate this car to a new level," he added. Inside, the swish sedan has been lavished with a Chestnut colored theme as standard. Alternatively, an Ebony interior is also available.

The cabin also features embroidered headrests with the "Avenir" logo for the front seats and Avenir-badged sill plates. Elsewhere, the Buick LaCrosse Avenir comes equipped with Intelligent Twin-Clutch AWD, a Dynamic Drive Package featuring continuous variable real-time dampening control and advanced safety features. No prices have been announced yet, but Buick confirmed that the LaCrosse Avenir will be arriving in dealerships in early 2018.
