Just a day before its official debut, the all-new 2021 BMW 4 Series has leaked online. What we're looking at are a few images taken directly from the coupe's brochure and leaked online. As expected, the massive front grille is loud and proud for the world to see. There's no doubt this new styling direction will be the source of plenty of conversation, but that's exactly the point.

BMW has sometimes been criticized for not being daring enough with its designs, but not this time. Previous teaser images of this front end already indicated the new styling direction, as did a number of spy shots. However, camouflage made it difficult to see the details.

Looking more closely at these newly leaked images, it's amazing to see just how much the production-spec 2021 4 Series, codenamed G22, looks like the BMW Concept 4 that was first revealed last September at Frankfurt. The front grilles are nearly identically. The front grille pattern shown here is reserved for only M Performance models, meaning the M440i. Lower trimmed G22 4 Series will most certainly have the oversized grille, only with a different pattern inside.

It remains to be seen which pattern will adorn the new M4's equally in-your-face grille, but we'll get our answer to that this fall. Chances are, this bold front grille is the new styling direction for the entire BMW brand, so we'd all better get used to it. The BMW X7 no longer has the biggest kidney grille in the business.

According to the leaked brochure image, the 2021 4 Series will be offered in the following exterior colors:

• Alpine White

• Black Sapphire

• Mineral White

• Bluestone

• Artic Race Blue

• Portimao Blue

• Sunset Orange

• Sanremo Green

• Black Non-Metallic

• Brilliant White Metallic

• Dravite Grey

• Frozen Deep Grey

• Frozen Portimao Blue

• Tanzanite Blue

The M440i pictured is the highest grade you can buy until the M4 arrives. Like its sedan sibling, the BMW M340i, power comes from a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with 369 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Remember, the M440i will be xDrive only. It also features a mild hybrid system offering up an extra 11 ponies of potential boost.

Complete details and official photos will come tomorrow so stay tuned. In the meantime, the new BMW 4 Series and its huge kidney grille is now the topic of plenty of debate.
