Courtesy of Chinese website Autohome, these images purport to show the next-generation BMW X1 wearing zero camo. The compact crossover is tipped to be unveiled sometime this year, while these images back up recent spy shots in showing the 2016 model will receive an aggressive makeover. Unlike the current rear-wheel-drive X1, the all-new BMW X1, internally called the F48, will ride on the FWD platform (UKL1) sourced from the 2-Series Active Tourer.

The new platform offers more interior space while reducing production costs. Optional xDrive AWD will be offered (and almost certainly taken) in the US, along with a range of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines as well as a 1.5-liter turbo-three pot. BMW is likely to add its new 2.0-liter turbo-four into US model X1s, the most powerful of which will deliver 231 hp.
