New interior boasts some cool features.
The Korean luxury brand Genesis is on the verge of shifting towards electrification with new vehicles like the G80 Electrified. Genesis will soon release its first dedicated all-electric vehicle, based on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. Called the Genesis GV60, this upcoming EV has the potential to shake up the EV segment in a big way.
Our spy photographers have thoroughly captured the GV60's exterior, which is similar in shape to the Ioniq 5 but with Genesis styling details. We've only managed to get a distant glimpse at the car's interior, but some new photos have completely leaked the swanky cabin.
These shots reveal some fascinating details about the new GV60. Starting from the steering wheel, it looks much different than other Genesis models in shape, with what appears to be an engine start and drive mode button. Like the Ioniq 5 and EV6, the gauges and infotainment screens are housed on one connected piece. Though the center console looks less open than in the Ioniq 5, it does have the cool rotating shifter previewed by the Genesis X Concept. Above it, there's a rotating knob to control the infotainment system.
These leaked shots reveal digital camera mirrors, like Audi and Lexus currently use in other markets. Sadly, this technology is not allowed in the United States, so the GV60 should arrive with conventional side mirrors.
As we've come to expect from Genesis, the GV60 will have unique interior materials. This particular example appears to have mostly leather seats with gray cloth accents.
The Ioniq 5 is already pretty potent with 320 horsepower and 446 lb-ft of torque, but we assume the luxury version will be even more powerful. The Kia EV6 GT produces 576 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque using the same platform, so the GV60 could exceed these figures. These leaked images suggest the GV60 is close to hitting production, so we could see it before the end of 2021.
