Kia may be looking to branch out into the world of military vehicles, but the company continues to improve its core offerings. One of those products is the Kia Sportage, and we've been awaiting its launch for a little while, speculating over its new looks and inspecting spy shots for clues. Now we've got a proper look at a vehicle that is certainly a new Kia Sportage, but where these pictures originate from and some of the details that they show indicate that we still don't really know what our version of the Sportage will really look like. Nevertheless, this model is still a stunner.

The pictures were taken in China, and the general consensus is that this car is set to be revealed at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show, which will take place from November 22 to December 1. However, if you look at the glasshouse, particularly the bottom window line, you can see that this is a different vehicle to the one seen in our spy shots. Yet the rear wears prominent Sportage badging, so what's going on? The most likely explanation is that the vehicle seen in these pics is specific to the Chinese market, where the Sportage has previously only ever been sold as the Kia KX5.

We can see hints of the larger Kia Telluride in its design, with attractive, vertical LED taillights giving this SUV a larger and more upmarket appearance. The body accent running from these taillights is another attractive design feature, while a prominent faux diffuser with dual exhaust exits adds a touch of sportiness. In front, the "Tiger Nose" grille is bigger than ever on a Sportage, while dazzling LED headlights run to a second body indentation. Orange accents on the front lip, rocker panels, and that rear fascia all give the SUV a bit more pizzazz too, but we'll have to wait for our version of the Sportage to be revealed before we'll know if any of the same styling flourishes will feature on the domestic offering.
