Rumors that Ford is cooking up a special Bullitt edition of the new 2018 Mustang to commemorate the film's upcoming 50th anniversary recently resurfaced after an eagle-eyed forum user spotted the car being filmed out on the streets in Chicago for a commercial. Unfortunately, the photo was too blurry to fully identify the car, but its distinctive Dark Highland Green paint suggested we were looking at the 2018 Ford Mustang Bullitt Edition last seen in design sketches shown in a Ford promotional video starring Dwayne Johnson.

However, new clearer photos showing different angles of the car have emerged on the Mustang6G forum. Granted, the images are still grainy but details on the car all but confirm that the new Bullitt Mustang is real. Once again, the Mustang in the photos is finished in Dark Highland Green, but we can now see the faux filler cap featuring a similar crosshairs background mounted on the black decklid of the 2008 Mustang Bullitt. Traditionally, this is where you would normally find the GT badge on the current Mustang. Another photo showing the side of the car gives us a clearer look at the black five-spoke wheels featuring polished lips.

According to the forum user, the 2018 Bullitt Mustang also features black exhaust tips, Recaro seats and red brake calipers, suggesting that the GT Performance Pack could come as standard with upgraded suspension. Thanks to a leaked window sticker, we also know that the 2018 Bullitt Mustang will be sold exclusively with a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 mated to either a 10-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. If Ford has already filmed a commercial, it's surely only a matter of time before the 2018 Ford Bullitt Mustang breaks cover so we wouldn't be surprised to see it debut at Detroit next month.
