The Ford Mustang GT has always been one of the best pony cars around, but when Ford revealed the all-electric Mustang Mach-E with arguably much softer styling, many wondered if the original coupe would be going soft too. In terms of powertrains, many would argue that the Mustang is losing some of its appeal now that it will be offered with two electrified engines. As for its styling though, it seems that things will be getting a little sharper, not softer. Spy shots have revealed very little so far thanks to extensive camouflage coverings being applied to the test mules we've spotted so far, but now a Facebook page has leaked one image of the new 'Stang.

The leaked image appears to be coming from some sort of brochure and reveals that the V8-powered Mustang will be getting a GT500-inspired hood intake and a much more angular design throughout, with sharper grilles and intakes being complemented by Mach-E-inspired headlights placed in line with the grille and hood. Some have said that this design flourish looks like Jim Carrey's haircut in Dumb & Dumber. That's one way of looking at it, but we feel confident that this new look will come across as aggressive and modern, even if we detect a touch of Dodge Charger in those new lights. What really worries us is the badge on the fender...

Due to the low quality of the image, it's difficult to see exactly what the badge reads, but it's clearly no longer a "5.0" badge. If we squint, this could be depicting a 4.3- or even a 4.0-liter engine. If capacity is being reduced that much, it may be reasonable to expect that forced induction through a pair of turbochargers has been added to the traditionally atmospheric V8. Whatever the case, this new-look S650 Mustang will be clearly identifiable. We'd recommend memorizing the face well - you may have to jump out of its path at the next car meet. And yes, we're going to make that joke forever.
