Red Bull pitches in to help change the image of Middle Eastern drifting.
We’ve all seen the “drifting” videos coming out of the Middle East, mostly Saudi Arabia, for years. The bulk have been of kids chucking cheap FWD rental cars sideways on public roads until they hit something. It’s entertaining to watch, but it’s hardly professional-level drifting. But now a Red Bull-sponsored event at Fouad Chehab Stadium in Jounieh (about 10 miles north of Beirut) has the stated purpose of establishing Lebanon as the Middle East’s drifting capital.
Of course, the regional finals are still in Dubai, but we wish Lebanon good luck in elevating the level of the sport. The video is in Arabic, but English is available on the closed caption menu.
