NBA star LeBron James has served as a celebrity ambassador for more than one automaker over the years, although some of these partnerships were more of a mismatch than others. For instance, there was that time a few years ago when James helped to promote the relatively bland Kia K900 sedan. A more successful collaboration began more recently between James LeBron and GMC as part of the build-up to the unveiling of the Hummer EV. A big, groundbreaking truck and a basketball legend seem like a more convincing partnership, which is why James just shared a new video of him giving a mini-tour of the new truck.

The video shows James introducing us to the Hummer EV Edition 1. Last year, this model sold out in just one hour despite a price tag of $112,595. James' short video shows off a gleaming Edition 1 finished in Pearl White and with the roof off for a true open-air experience. James makes mention of a few of the truck's highlights, notably the strange but cool CrabWalk function that can prove useful in certain off-roading conditions, allowing the Hummer to pivot its way around obstacles. Besides that, he was obviously impressed with the truck's ability to hit 60 mph in just three seconds.

While we can't wait to experience the Tesla Cybertruck rival for ourselves, we'll have to wait until 2022 to do so, when first deliveries of the Hummer EV pickup are expected. GMC recently gave us another taste of the powerful EV with an animated video of the Hummer in action, and we expect more glimpses of it leading up to its official arrival. Its mix of thrilling performance, high-tech cabin with multiple digital screens, and the military-esque styling for which the Hummer is known, make it one of the most anticipated releases in recent memory. And, if it means anything to you, it's got the stamp of approval from a sporting legend.
