McLaren has teamed up with Lego to celebrate its 60th anniversary of racing with a Speed Champions double pack featuring the legendary McLaren F1 LM supercar from the 1990s alongside McLaren's current Solus GT hypercar.

The 581-piece set includes two LEGO mini figure drivers in racing gear, and the cars have a surprising amount of detail, including the Papaya Orange color of the F1 LM.

If you need a refresher, the F1 LM was the limited edition version of the McLaren F1 GTR that finished first, third, fourth, fifth, and thirteenth places overall at the 24 Hours Of Le Mans in 1995. The Solus GT is a V10-powered single-seater track special that came about as the realization of a video game concept.

"As 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of McLaren and our founder's (Bruce McLaren) passion to create the ultimate supercars, we felt this was the perfect opportunity to come together with the LEGO Group and celebrate some of the iconic McLaren road cars whose designs were born of that vision," says Goran Ozbolt, Chief Designer, McLaren Automotive.

McLaren has a lot to celebrate with its series of outstanding achievements, including being the only team to have won the 'Triple Crown of Motorsport' with race victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500, and Le Mans 24 Hours. Bruce McLaren came close to it as a driver by winning at the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

This set is the latest in the Lego Speed Champions series and goes on sale on March 3, 2023, priced at $34.99. Other sets in the series include the Ferrari 812 Competizione and Porsche 963 LMDh racer.

"Whatever age you are, you can have fun building and exploring the cars and through that, I hope we can inspire future designers and engineers who will help us look to the next 60 years and beyond," said Ozbolt.

We have a pre-release set of the McLaren Lego Speed Champions pack and haven't had time to crack the box yet, but we will post some images on our socials as soon as we start building.
