This is too cool.

Lego has been releasing some awesome kits for the automotive enthusiast lately. We've seen a Technic kit for the F-150 Raptor, before which we got one for the Jeep Wrangler. There's also been a new Speed Champions release that features the Koenigsegg Jesko, McLaren Elva, and Toyota Supra. The latest Lego kit is a lot more down to earth though and is modeled after the famous Volkswagen bus, specifically the T2 generation Baywindow model. This kit is of the Camper Van and comes with a bunch of little details that are bound to make any surfer dude or dudette who loves old VWs very happy.

Lego has previously released a kit for the T1 Camper Van and says that this new T2 variant is bigger than before. It gets a new paint color, a sliding door, and the aforementioned Baywindow wraparound front windscreen. Other cool details include a working steering system and a detailed interior that boasts opening cabinets, a fridge, sink, and gas stove with a teapot. Folding chairs and a surfboard are part of the kit too, as is a folding rear bench seat. The detail is so fantastic that the model even features a pop-up roof just like the original.

Fabric curtains and a sticker pack with retro graphics and both German and US number plates are included. The moon cap hub wheels are another nice touch, and the front spare wheel adds further charm. The kit is made up of 2,207 pieces and stands six inches tall with a width of 5.5 inches and a length of 13.5 inches. As for pricing, the recommended retail price is listed at $179.99 on the Lego online store. It goes on sale on August 1 and is sure to be very popular, so save the date if you're keen on expanding your collection. We look forward to Lego bringing out more of these, and maybe one day we'll get a model of the upcoming VW ID.Buzz.
