Less Than $200 Can Get You Behind The Wheel Of A Vintage Defender

There are some awesome projects at Land Rover's Solihull facilities.

Do you love classic Land Rover models like the original Defender? If so, then you can now go to Land Rover heaven in Solihull, UK. This is where Land Rover houses its Classic Workshop. In addition to being the factory that built the Defender, this is also home of the company's restoration projects. For just £29 ($35), you can now tour this facility and see how the company performs painstakingly detailed restorations of Series 1 Land Rover models. You can even pay a little more to drive a Series 1 Land Rover.

For £150 ($184), visitors of the factory can drive a Series 1 Land Rover with an instructor on an off-road course. We think this tour sounds pretty fun if you are a Land Rover fan.

Autocar toured the factory, as did 10,000 people who came to visit last year to watch the final Defenders roll off the line. We wish more factories would be open for tours like this. Sister company Jaguar has some amazing restoration projects that we would love to see. Make it happen, JLR.
