Giving BMW good reason for concern, Lexus unveiled its breathtaking RC F coupe in Detroit this week. But one of its most important models might actually be the LF-NX Concept, a stunning crossover which we originally covered in Frankfurt last year. With its hardcore design, the Detroit concept is a precursor to a Geneva show reveal, which should bring this Audi Q5, and BMW X3 fighter even closer to dealerships.

In the steaming crossover category, with domestic and foreign manufacturers fighting for every crumb of the pie, the LX-NF could be one Lexus's most crucial models in upcoming years. The Japanese's psycho design should make the competition - even out-there contenders like the Range Rover Evoque - blush in comparison. Fitted with the company's new 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, this should be a speedy little SUV, delivering sporty car-like performance. Whether you love the design or hate it, expect this to be a category game-changer. Stay tuned for more details before the Geneva reveal.
