The Overland Expo West, currently taking place in Flagstaff, Arizona, has debuted what it calls the Ultimate Overland Vehicle 2023. This Ultimate Overland Vehicle is not just the modified 2022 Lexus LX 600 but the vehicle and trailer combination as a whole.

Overland Expo claims this is the most-modified Lexus LX 600 to date, and behind it, you'll note the Off Grid Trailers Pando 2.0. Together these two showcase several claimed first-ever overland components for full-size vehicles.

The Ultimate Overland Vehicle 2023 was built by Mule Expedition Outfitters, using all-new and existing components from CBI Offroad, Goose Gear, MagnaFlow, Prinsu, Radflo, and Total Chaos. All of the new components will be available to LX600 owners to enable them to build their own dream overlander. If the Lexus is too rich for your blood, you might want to look at some cheaper alternatives.

"This year's Ultimate Overland Vehicle was created for a family of four to explore deep into the backcountry and stay there for a week or more at a time," said Jessica Kirchner, Emerald Consumer Events Marketing SVP. "The LX 600, as it is built, can alone support an extended overland trip. However, adding Pando 2.0 enables overlanders to set up basecamp and extend their journey and enjoyment."

Overland Expo chose the LX 600 because the base vehicle is the perfect starting point. It's luxurious, powerful, spacious, safe, and already a decent off-roader with a full-time four-wheel-drive system. The Off Grid Trailers Pando 2.0 has 24 inches of ground clearance, eight inches of wheel travel, a queen-size bed, air-conditioning, 33 gallons of fresh water, and a roof rack that can carry 1,000 pounds. Oh, and a slide-out pizza oven. These are just a few of the highlights.

The LX600 comes with an ARB Summit MKII front bumper mounted in front of a winch. This bumper is also the mounting point for the Midland Radio Bull Bar Antenna, giving the Midland's MXT-575 GMRS radio maximum range. ARB's new Intensity IQ lights should make night driving a cinch.

Up top is Prinsu's first-ever roof rack for the LX 600, while down below, the off-roader benefits from upgraded suspension components from Total Chaos and Radflo. Radflo supplied new shocks and coilovers, and Total Chaos developed new upper and lower control arms and links.

The result is a 2.5-inch increase in ride height and greater wheel travel than the standard model. These suspension upgrades provided enough room for 33-inch Kenda Klever R/T tires on 17-inch satin black wheels from Icon Dynamics.

At the rear, a dual swing-out bumper from CBI Offroad carries a full-size spare, traction boards, and a five-gallon jerry can. In the trunk, you'll find Goose Gear's new Ultimate Chef Package for the LX 600, including a CFX3 45 fridge from Dometic.

The Chef Package also houses the auxiliary power management system. Then there are the usual overland necessities, such as an Off-Road Tool Bag with Tool Roll, a Forrest Tool's recovery kit, and a shovel. In case of an emergency, there's a Self-Reliance Medical OTK 1450 First-Aid Kit.

There should be a slight increase in the Lexus' twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 thanks to an all-new MagnaFlow Overland Series cat-back performance exhaust designed specifically for the LX 600. Even if you're not an overlander, you might want to investigate this option to give the full-size SUV more character.

The build will attend three more outdoor shows this year, after which the trailer will be sold on Bring a Trailer, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Overland Expo Foundation charity.
