Lexus has been making some big moves in recent months. First, it introduced its first plug-in hybrid, the 2022 NX 450h+, and then it announced an entire customization program designed to bring more individuality to the Lexus ownership experience. If we know one thing, it's that Lexus loves to give its cars a unique touch, and we've covered numerous special editions by this Japanese luxury manufacturer. The latest special trims to hit the scene are the Japan-only "Black Tourer" and "Elegant Tourer" specifications for the Lexus RX SUV. We recently covered the RX Black Line which took on a blacked-out approach, but these models are subtler on the eye.

The RX450h/RX300 Black Tourer gets a black-painted spindle grille, black front lower bumper, 20-inch black-painted wheels with 235/55R20 102V tires, black outer mirrors, and black rear bumper garnish. On the inside, the Black Tourer features Genki Grain finishes with a leather steering wheel and shifter, as well as light gray stitching. The dashboard features Walnut wood inserts and a black instrument panel. The seats are covered in semi-aniline leather in Black and White Ash. This package makes the RX feel like a true executive SUV, without being too shouty about it. Lexus will ask the equivalent of $55,296 for the base RX300 FWD version with the 2.0-liter engine, and approximately $67,671 for the full-fat RX450h AWD with the 3.5-liter V6 engine.

The Elegant Tourer is exactly what it sounds like: elegant. Lexus has gone for a more restrained approach here, and the Elegant Tourer features softer lines and colors. On the exterior side, this special version gets a silver-painted spindle grille, a black lower front bumper, 20-inch wheels with sputtering coating, and black rear bumper garnish. In the cabin, this elegant piece of work gets genuine grain touchpoints, semi-aniline leather in Noble Brown, and light gray stitching where it matters. The base-level FWD 2.0-liter Elegant Tourer goes for around $55,313, and the range-topping AWD V6 model goes for $67,702. American Lexus fans, don't hold your breath - these special new trims are for Japan only.
