The sound of the 450-hp 5.0-liter V8 won’t be for the faint hearted.
In teasing the first image of the all-new RC-F, Lexus revealed the car would offer “a bold, gritty, experience synonymous with the famed Lexus F heritage.” The second teaser, a partial overhead shot of the hood, comes with slightly less ambiguous marketing speak. The Japanese carmaker admits the 2015 RC F will have “half the doors and twice the roar” of the IS F, as well as “an entirely new expression of design and uncompromising performance.”
The RC-F’s powertrain is rumored to be a 5.0-liter V8 rated at least 450 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque, good for a 4.5-second 0-62 mph time. When the coupe is unveiled at Detroit next month, it should break cover with a carbon-fiber body kit, sport-tuned suspension and Brembo brakes.
