That's right, it's official. Lexus will discontinue the SC 430 after July 2010. The 2010 Lexus SC, however, is still available and subject to the usual critique and reviews. The 2010 SC has changed very little since its debut in 2002, and it continues to impress with its sleek exterior design, long list of standard interior features and impressive build quality. Downsides to the SC include a cramped backseat and limited cargo space.
The SC 430 is geared more towards sporty grand touring than all out sports performance. For 2010, the Lexus SC receives a host of electronic upgrades to its already impressive list of convenient features. The 2010 SC continues to have a powertrain that is smooth and powerful, though sedate. It also features the same 4.3 liter V8 engine that produces 288 horsepower as before. A six speed sequential shift automatic transmission is standard, and according to Lexus, the SC has a top speed of 149 mph and can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.
The EPA estimates that the SC has a city/high fuel economy of 16/23 miles per gallon. Reports have stated that the rear wheel drive SC handles well for a grand tourer, but lacks the characteristics of real sports performance. The exterior of the SC continues to divide people over its curves, but everyone still agrees that the power retractable hardtop is the best exterior feature. Inside, the cabin features high quality materials, and the SC also continues to seat only two in reality. The seats are still comfortable, but only in the front.
The non-existent back seats are good as briefcase or purse space only. There's literally no room for a human to sit back there.
