Will be based on the Stunning LF-LC Concept.
According to various sources close to the company, Lexus is planning to bring back the SC nameplate after having discontinued the previous model in 2010. What used to be a yawn-provoking luxury convertible is expected to become a lot more exciting in its next incarnation. The 2017 SC will be based on the beautiful LF-LC concept that Lexus unveiled at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, and is expected to be offered with a choice of two powerful engines.
The first will be an uprated version of the RC F's 5.0-liter V8, with what is rumored to be an output of 475 horsepower. The second powertrain will be a hybrid setup, comprised of a 3.5-liter V6 and Lexus' Hybrid Synergy Drive system. This combination is expected to produce something in the vicinity of 500 horsepower. One or both of these powertrains will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Pricing is expected to be in the $100,000-plus neighborhood, though some estimates go as high as $130,000.
