Lexus has been very busy with its US lineup. Recent developments include the tweaking of the 2021 ES hybrid to be more efficient, as well as the addition of a stunning new color on the 2021 LC 500. These are all cool moves, but what exactly has Lexus got planned for the near future? We might have the answer. According to Lexus Enthusiast, the Japanese carmaker has recently registered the RZ 450e in the USA, Europe, and Australia which means that we could soon be seeing a new model and powertrain make its way to the USA. The main thing is to figure out what exactly the RZ 450e could be.

If we know anything about Lexus, and its customer base, we can bet that the new model will be some sort of crossover hybrid. What we can definitely make out from the letter "e" in the name is that this new vehicle will be of the electric persuasion. This falls in line with Toyota's vision of producing six electric vehicles by 2025. The Lexus UX 300e was the first to launch in China earlier this year. At this pace Lexus and Toyota should have no problem meeting that deadline.

The name RZ 450e gives a few more clues: the letter Z is yet to be used in the Lexus family, which means we can be guaranteed a new model. The letter R opens up even more possibilities. The only two cars which make use of the letter is of course the Lexus RC, a stunningly beautiful coupe, and the RX, a classy SUV. This leads us to believe that Lexus is planning to build a luxury coupe crossover, a combination that is becoming more popular with luxury manufacturers by the day. The car could possibly resemble renderings of a similar Toyota design we recently covered. Either way, we're excited for some new Lexus action.
