Our previous article which berated the upcoming BMW X4 coupe crossover caused quite a lot of debate. The X3-based SUV, which sits too low to offer any off-road practicality and is too ugly to be considered a positive addition to the family, will be officially unveiled this spring at the Beijing Motor Show. We still think this model is a useless waste of time, but we're happy to announce that it will be offered with an M variant, making it - at the very least - a fast waste of time.

Adding to its burgeoning line of models, the X4, essentially a smaller version of the X6 crossover coupe, should provide a sportier image for the X3 soccer mom edition. The base model should arrive with a 3.0-liter turbo inline-six, so expect the M to add more performance and take on rivals like the Audi SQ5 and a reported Mercedes GLK coupe. The rumored X4 M will also provide a sportier chassis, as well as the mandatory M body kit. Following the introduction of its standard X4, the M should arrive in dealerships later this year as a 2015 model.
