Limited-Edition Abarth Hot Hatch Inspires New Timepiece

People are like crows; we like to collect shiny things, even if they hold little meaning or add no real value to our lives. In the automotive world, this relates to many things such as alloy pedals, chrome exterior trim, shiny alloy wheels, and for some reason, flashy watches. We've covered numerous stories related to limited edition watches manufactured for exotic and high-end luxury cars, but this watch pays tribute to something much smaller in the form of the Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally, a sporty hatch based on the Fiat 500 - and also one of the few tiny hot hatches besides fast versions of the Mini Cooper.

The Italian carmaker has a storied history in motorsport, and the feisty limited edition Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally pays tribute to one rally hero in particular: the Abarth 131 Rally. The watch, like the Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally, takes inspiration from this 1980s classic and serves as a nod to the Italian marque's racing legacy.

Fiat has once again turned to expert watchmakers Breil, with whom the manufacturer has had a relationship since 2014, to produce a special timepiece called the 'Breil Abarth 695 Tributo 131 Rally chronograph'. This watch certainly shares the Abarth's flair for Italian design and features an all-black look with gold highlights. Like the limited edition Abarth 695, of which a total of 695 were produced, the new watch adds a number of stylistic embellishments, and just like the car, features a number of hidden Easter eggs.

The watch has a three-dimensional bezel design, which is a reference to the Scorpion car's 17-inch alloy wheels. Easter eggs can also be found in the vehicle itself, with the Abarth 695 featuring an engraved silhouette of the 131 Rally on the lower part of the door, the Alcantara dashboard, and the headrests of the front seats.
