As Audi looks to bid farewell to the first-generation Audi R8, the German carmaker is hoping to entice a few more buyers with the release of this limited-edition variant that will debut at the LA Auto Show. Dubbed the Audi R8 Competition, just 60 units are slated for production and will be sold exclusively in the US. Audi says the R8 Competition is the most powerful production vehicle it has ever built, with the 5.2-liter V10 getting an extra 20 horses for a total output of 570 hp.

Mated exclusively to a seven-speed S tronic transmission, the limited-run R8 will sprint to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 199 mph, making it the fastest R8 ever made. Inspired by the all-conquering R8 LMS Ultra racer, the R8 Competition comes with a host of matte carbon-fiber elements that lower weight and improves downforce, including a fixed rear spoiler, engine bay, mirror housings, flics, side blades, front spoiler and rear diffuser. Other unique touches include gloss-black exhaust tips and alloys housing ceramic brakes and anodized red calipers, while the interior receives the same matte carbon fiber treatment on the center console and illuminated door sill inlays. Customers will be able to order the Audi R8 Competition from November.
