Lincoln's focus on sheer luxury above all else makes it a viable alternative to pricey German sedans and SUVs. Models like the Navigator have plush interiors and plenty of features to keep passengers comfortable. But Lincoln is now realizing that the luxury image it wants to convey can be accomplished in other ways, too. In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Lincoln has announced two co-branded timepieces with lifestyle brand Shinola. After all, everyone knows that high-profile carmakers like Bugatti and Rolls-Royce like to extend their craftsmanship expertise to quality timepieces and other accessories as an extension of the brand.
Lincoln also said that the new timepieces continue the momentum that began with last year's Aviator Shinola Concept. The watches combine both Detroit-based brands' aesthetics and technologies. The first is the Shinola Runwell Sport Chronograph with a custom Lincoln-branded seconds sub-eye. This 48-mm men's timepiece features rose gold detailing on the bezel and a dial and hands in black/rose gold. These match the copper accents of the Aviator Shinola Concept. A leather strap, an engraved Lincoln logo at the back, and a Lincoln 100 Years wooden Shinola watch box complete the package.
The Shinola Runwell Automatic is the second timepiece. This one is a unisex design and has a black leather strap, polished stainless-steel case, and measures a slightly smaller 39.5 mm. It also comes with a watch box and has a matte black vellum-textured dial and rose gold numbers.
"As we celebrate 100 years with another iconic brand who is equally committed to craftsmanship, design and artistry, we are proud to showcase our combined approach to luxury with these Shinola watches - a memento to mark Lincoln's anniversary," said Michael Sprague, North America director, Lincoln.
The Shinola Runwell Sport Chronograph retails for $1,100 while the Shinola Runwell Automatic costs $1,300. Both collaborative timepieces will be available for pre-order from August 5. Only 500 of each will be made so you should move fast if you want one.
