This one came out of almost nowhere but we're not in the least bit surprised. According to recent chatter around the web over the past several hours, Lincoln may unveil a new Continental Concept at New York next week. The word is coming from a previously unknown site called Blue Oval Forums, which was then picked up by Jalopnik. The forum seems to have found a development website for a new Lincoln Continental concept. That site has now been taken down.

Fortunately some information was found before that happened, claiming "The Lincoln Continental Concept is everything we know about cars, and everything we understand about people." OK, interesting enough. It's really nothing more than marketing talk. The last time Lincoln had a Continental Concept (pictured here) was back in 2002 and it featured pretty retro styling. Coincidentally enough, we asked Ford's European Vehicle Line Director, Ulrich Koesters, at Geneva earlier this month whether or not the new Mustang's RWD platform could be stretched for, say, a large sedan with a Lincoln badge. He didn't say no outright, and only hinted the platform had "possibilities." We'll find out what's happening in just a few days.
