Lincoln is in a unique situation now that Mercury has officially been given the pink slip. This means there will be additional funds to pay for future Lincoln models and current model updates. The MKZ is now a more competitive car in its class thanks to a much needed mid-cycle refresh in 2010. It's visually more upscale looking than its Fusion sibling with Lincoln's new corporate front grille. This is a good thing as Lincoln wants to be a more direct competitor to Lexus.

The MKZ is a decent entry-level luxury sedan that finally has sufficient power thanks to the new EcoBoost engine. In combination with Ford's attention to interior quality and detail as of late, the MKZ finally gives Lincoln a credible name in the luxury department. Overall, it's a step in the right direction, but Lincoln still has a long way to go. The revamped MKZ is an excellent start as it's now competitive against rivals from both Lexus and Acura.
