Lincoln recently announced that it too would be committing to electrification, and thanks to stunning designs coming from the automaker of late, perhaps Ford's luxury arm won't be playing catch up with Cadillac much longer.

Lincoln has now teamed up with Shinola to create a luxurious new concept. Based on the Lincoln Aviator, the concept is created as a design collaboration between the two companies to "explore what an Aviator concept could look like" with Shinola cues. As you would expect, there are loads of luscious leather and superb stitching throughout the cabin.

Lincoln says that the concept "celebrates design and artistry" and draws inspiration from various Shinola luxury products, including the Canfield Sport watch and the Runwell bicycle. Shinola CEO Shannon Washburn explains how the collaboration came about.

"After our initial meeting with the Lincoln team, it was clear we shared the same passion for well-designed, beautifully crafted products. Designers from both brands came together to create an ultra-luxe vehicle that still embodies Shinola's aesthetic of approachable luxury with thoughtful details. You can see this in the touches of copper inspired by our bike seats and the brand strip incorporated into the leather seats."

The soft white whiskey leather with creme suede is inspired by Shinola's mother of pearl stone watch dials and is balanced by copper accents, but special attention was paid to the woven textile stripe in the seats. This was based on the stich of the original Shinola stripe and then scaled to proportion. A blue tone was then added to acknowledge Lincoln's many signature blue shades, while the instrument panel highlights "the importance of texture", with more copper accents and a woven metal mesh. It looks gorgeous and is unlikely to ever make production, but we wouldn't be surprised to see a limited-run special edition spawn from the design study.

If you'd like to see it in person, the concept will be displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance later this month.
