Lincoln has a lot of work ahead of them if they ever want to compete in the same league as their rival American luxury brand, Cadillac. While the current MKS sedan is a good car, it still lacks the overall charisma of the CTS. But Lincoln hopes to change that beginning next week when they introduce an updated model. And just today, Lincoln has just released this teaser image of the 2013 MKS, showing only the new hood.

Although we don't expect any significant design changes, the new hood does feature new character lines that'll likely flow into the waterfall grille. The grille itself has also likely been toned down somewhat, as many were not impressed with what Lincoln had hoped would give their cars more expression, as opposed to old and conservative styling. Other updates we'll likely be seeing in the MKS are restyled head and taillights along with some chassis/suspension and performance upgrades. The latter two are very important as Lincoln also needs to prove that it can also build a proper luxury sports sedan.

The MyLincoln Touch infotainment system will also receive an update. In January, we'll be seeing the concept version of the next generation MKZ. In the meantime, we'll have complete details of the updated MKS beginning next week from LA.
