Listen to the Sound of the Mercedes AMG GT

4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 has an engine note that shouldn't disappoint.

Until the AMG GT is unveiled at the Paris Motor Show this October, expect a series of painful teasers to keep the future Mercedes flagship firmly fixed in our thoughts. The latest wave of reminders comes in the form of a trio of videos showcasing the new model’s soundtrack. There’s been no official confirmation but all reports suggest motivation will come from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. A naturally-aspirated engine would have satisfied the purists, but not the environmentalists.

So Mercedes has struck a balance by building a relatively efficient 520-horsepower turbocharged unit. And by the sound coming from these videos, it should come with just the right amount of bark and grunt to keep owner’s happy. The first early development stage preview serves up the sound of the engine start and idle.
