It's easy to bemoan the loss of the Ford Focus RS. It was a rowdy little AWD hot hatchback with drift mode. How can you not? Now, resale values on them are through the roof. Plus, that small hatchback footprint and low, stiff ride aren't great for those that like to get out of doors. But what if you could get just a bit of that Ford RS flavor in something a little more usable?

Thank goodness the 2022 Ford Maverick is less than $30,000. So, that takes care of the usability and affordability. And now, Magnaflow has given buyers the option to add a little of that Ford RS flavor to their Mavericks with a new exhaust. We're still a bit bummed at the lack of a Maverick RS, or even Maverick ST, but this is a good start.

If you do want to modify your Maverick, this is a good place to start. Magnaflow uses CNC manufacturing to keep the product quality high and the sound consistent. No, this exhaust won't put you anywhere near the Focus RS' 350 hp, but at least you know it's going to help your truck at least sound like it. And in the world of tuning, sound is half the battle.

On hearing the exhaust for the first time, it's hard not to think of Ford's rowdy four-banger hot hatches. We don't get the Focus ST or RS in the US anymore, but the brand's four-cylinder design hasn't changed much since those iconic hatches left the US market.

This results in an uncanny resemblance between a Magnaflow-equipped Maverick and those Ford hot hatches of yesteryear. The exhaust itself is only 2.5-inches in diameter and runs from the catalytic converter all the way back to the blacked-out tips. At least you know you'll pass emissions.

This isn't some straight-pipe kit, either. Magnaflow says the sound is only a moderate boost over stock, more akin to a stock Focus ST or RS than a Cosworth rally car. Now someone just needs to go out and build a true (Nitrous) blue Maverick RS.
