The first Rivian R1T electric pickup truck rolled off the production line earlier this month and we can't wait to get behind the wheel ourselves. It not only looks fantastic but is one of several upcoming electric trucks boasting power and performance figures more commonly associated with sports cars. The GMC Hummer EV is another example. Like many EVs, the R1T is also a showcase for advanced technologies and one of these is Rivian's new app. Thanks to a new post on Rivian Forums, we now know about many of the impressive features and functions that customers will be able to control via the app, and we also get a look at some screenshots of what customers should see on their phones.

Some of the features that you can use the app for include accessing the owner's manual, settings for the ventilation system, service appointments, vehicle lighting, and tire-pressure readings. The app also grants access to vehicle diagnostics with data points for inverter temperatures and more. In case someone manages to steal your R1T, you can also use the app to track the truck's location. We've seen before how stolen vehicles can be recovered using similar tech.

Other security measures include being able to manage the locking/unlocking of the doors and frunk. Being an EV, owners will also be able to view the charge state of the truck via the app.

One of the more interesting features is a winch controller that relies on Bluetooth connectivity. It's a handy way to use this feature if you or someone else is ever stuck in a sticky situation. Other gadgets linked to the app include a Rivian activity band and a key card. The app can also be used in tandem with the wall-mounted battery charger. Essentially, this nifty app allows you to control and monitor many functions that you'd use regularly. A screenshot of the app shows various wallpapers, many of which have a nature/outdoor theme. The forum user did, however, indicate that some of these features may be tracked but not accessible to end users. Still, the Rivian R1T is an excellent example of a modern connected vehicle that you can "talk" to whether or not you're behind the wheel.
