Toyota UK has officially unveiled their newly redesigned 2012 Yaris subcompact. The US version is expected to arrive sometime this fall.
Toyota UK has spilled the beans on the upcoming Yaris hatchback. The UK subcompact is set to be nearly identical to the 2012 Yaris arriving in the US later this fall. More than likely, the upcoming US-spec version will be virtually identically to the UK model. Besides the sharper exterior styling, some new features for the UK Yaris include an affordable multimedia connectivity with the Toyota Touch and Go system which is very user-friendly and handy to the driver.
The Touch and Go system is equipped with a USB port, Bluetooth, rear parking camera and additional connection services that offer drivers systems such as Google Maps. In the UK, the Yaris is offered in four trims: SR, TR, T2 and T Sprint. The TR is the bread and butter trim and is expected to command around two thirds of sales. The TR is available in three engines which include the 1.0-liter VVTi, 1.33-liter Dual VVTi and a 1.4-liter D-4D. Also available are three transmission options: a five-speed manual, six-speed manual and Toyota's Multidrive S CVT.
Pricing starts from £11,170 for the three-door T2 and ranges up to £15,385 for the five-door T Spirit trim. Toyota is currently taking orders for the new subcompact hatch and it's due to hit showrooms in the UK by mid-September. The North American version likely won't be far behind.
